Kotonoha no Niwa (The Garden of Words) Extended Trailer

Well, not really a trailer but sort of like a short music video of the OST showing short clips of the movie.

Also, I just have to get this out of the way – those trains and station are so Byousoku-like! Really looking forward to this one.

In case you’ve been under a rock for quite some time now, Makoto Shinkai will be releasing (well, it has already been released in other countries like Australia) Kotonoha no Niwa – a short film about a shoemaker who meets a girl only during rainy seasons. It also feels like Shinkai-san is going back to that theme of ‘distance’.

Until further news then. 🙂 Enjoy the clip.

Global Shinkai Day 2012

So it’s that time of the year again – the annual Global Shinkai Day which has now been technically extended to three days (March 9 – 11). However, it should also be noted that this event coincides with the first anniversary of the Great Tohoku Earthquake.

The Global Shinkai Day was initiated by these guys from the Cherry Blossoms Falling forum (a Shinkai fan site) some 3 years ago. I have been following this event ever since and it’s a nice way to remember Makoto Shinkai‘s works from the very beginning – shorts, commercials, and full-time movies/OVAs. They managed to team up with Crunchyroll to roll out the film showing events worldwide. For more details on the Crunchyroll announcement, please visit this link.

To those who are new to his works, Crunchyroll streams Shinkai’s masterpieces English subbed (there were even dubbed versions before, but I didn’t like it as much as Japanese dubs do). The guys from Cherry Blossoms Falling also holds some contests and giveaways to the participants, as well as live discussions about the movie (I think this time around, they are giving away a signed 5 centimeters per second DVD). If you are a long time fan, maybe you can discuss what new realizations you have after watching the movies, since as we all know, we see a new dimension of the movie everytime we watch his works. 🙂

So see you there and I hope you enjoy his works as much as I do. With that, I will leave you with this snippet from his stellar masterpiece, 5 centimeters per second:

Akari Shinohara: Hey… They say it’s five centimeters per second.
Takaki Toono: What do you mean?
Akari Shinohara: The speed at which the sakura blossom petals fall… five centimeters per second.

Also, it seems like Jyukai will FINALLY be releasing their next album, Stairway to the future~. The date that you must mark on your calendars – January 20, 2010. You don’t know the patience that we, Jyukai fans, have endured just to finally listen to their exceptional music once again. 🙂 *love*

It’s a ”CD-best” album that will feature their all-time greats to brand new songs.

Pre-orders are available now. I really can’t wait! ^^

Tooi Sekai + F/S Night Movie

How can something so short be something so… emotional… Makoto Shinkai, I really praise you..  (How come I haven’t seen this before. ><)

Aside from that, I will be anticipating of what-would-be a movie (theatrical) adaptation of Fate/stay Night, believed to be worked under the Unlimited Blade Works arc (?).  I’m hoping to watch this as soon as it is released. ^^ Pretty much excited, I guess. 🙂

Missing something(s)

It’s already been 4 effin’ weeks.. That’s right! A month! . . . Since I last played my keyboards. 😦 I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! Somebody please fix it! Good thing that it is still covered by the warranty, but my parents still won’t have it repaired.. Gosh! I’m missing it badly! I need my eye-hand coordination practiced again. I need to listen to the product of my hardwork, patience, and perseverance. I need to listen to the tunes of my black and white keys! Please.. I want to listen to my music again.. :'[

If I get it back, I am sooooo gonna use it! Will play the Clannad tracks. I (also) miss it badly..

5cmI’m also waiting for the release of the most-awaited anime-movie yet.. Makoto Shinkai’s fourth monumental production.  I haven’t got any news yet as to what it’s about nor the date of its release. All I know is that he went to London for a vacation. I suppose he got his inspiration there. (He eventually went back to Japan I think). So, I assume that it’s about distance again.

Either way, anyway, I would love to be one of the thousands who can/may have the privilege to watch it (and understand it). I am so looking forward to it.

Also, I haven’t been watching anime lately, so I’m getting left behind. Well, I do watch FMA: Brotherhood and Tears to Tiara. But what I miss the most are the likes of Clannad, Footprints in the Sand, Myself; Yourself, Sola, A Tale of Memories, etc… Let’s get those emotions pumping!

jyukai_thumbAnyone got any news from Jyukai? Manami? Dewa? ANYTHING? I’m starving for a new song from them… Really, if you listen to their music, it’s nearly impossible to not like it, and then love it.. Damn.. My soul can’t stop searching for the things I’ve lost… Really, I need them all back!

I’m still here.. Hoping that when I wake up one day, my fate was changed…

And one thing, Don’t let your academics get in the way of your life. Really, when you grow up, people NEVER EVER care what grades did you get while you were still in school. It’s your personality and interests that matter. It’s how YOU shaped your life SO FAR.  Start living the dream.

Celebrating the 1st Annual Global Shinkai Day

The first, and the probably the only, event that I’ll be participating (and have participated) today is (was) watching (watched) 5 centimeters per second – dubbed version. I just have to try it out.

Turns out everything was ok. Whoever thought of this idea is a real winner. It changed my point of view on English dubbers out there who are totally wanna-be’s. Although it failed to capture totally the emotion in its words, the quality of the voice acting and the maturity as time goes by worked well.

It’s really disappointing that I have to go somewhere today, and that’s why I can’t stay here in the dormitory and watch all Shinkai films, but I’ve already watched them so that’s cool. But what I really want to participate in is the discussions of hundreds, and maybe thousands of viewers around the planet. It will be a cool gathering for all Shinkai fans and his majestic works of art. If I had the time, I would’ve joined the conference in Ventrilo set-up by Laz (Cherry Blossoms Falling) the whole day! Haha.

Oh well, off I go now.

Again, cheers for Makoto Shinkai! May you continue to pleasure us with your talent. (Indirect Translation: produce more films!!! ^^ Haha)

P.S. Akari’s voice (little girl) was really cute. Haha. 🙂

P.S.S. I hated Akari’s voice (matured girl). Pffftt….

P.S.S.S. There are no English subs for One More Time, One More Chance. So if you can’t understand a thing about it, I have a translation here in my blog. Just search for it. 🙂

Byousoku 5 cm Real Life Scenes

Again, this is heartlessly ripped off from Makoto Shinkai’s Unofficial Fan Forum. If you’ve watched Byousoku 5 cm, then there’s no reason why you’d be disappointed with these pictures. ^^

Notice the finest details that are included on those animated scenes! [Click for larger view. Or better yet, right click both pairs of pictures and open them in new tabs so you could compare them. ^^] Absolutely wonderful! Animation at its highest level! Hoping to see more of these quality on Shinkai’s next film.
